With an attritor, you are able to take a sampling of the product without disturbing the process. This is because the attritor does not spin as an entire drum containing the media and the product as a traditional ball mill will. A stationary, jacketed tank is used in attritors, and they have discs or arms attached. The result is precise temperature control from the jacket and efficient energy use.
